IKEA and Xbox Launch YXSTABY Gaming Furniture Collection Across Global Markets
IKEA and Xbox have released the YXSTABY collection, a new nine-piece line of gaming-inspired furniture and home accessories designed to blend performance with everyday living spaces. “At IKEA, we believe gaming deserves a place in the home that feels just as thoughtful, comfortable and personal as any other everyday activity,” said Philip Dilé, Product Developer at IKEA.
Design Inspiration Drawn from the Xbox Wireless Controller
The Xbox controller serves as the primary visual and functional blueprint for the collection, according to official statements from both brands. “We started with the Xbox controller—one of the most recognizable objects in gaming—and looked at how its familiar forms could inspire the collection,” said Carl Ledbetter, Head of Design, XBOX Devices. SavePoint Gaming reported that designers utilized original 3D files from Xbox device engineers to build the YXSTABY Gaming Thumbstick Stool, matching the exact proportions of an analog stick. The stool features the controller’s diamond grip texture around its base to prevent slipping, while the directional pad inspires a $19.90 cushion and a stainless steel decorative platter.
IKEA Singapore Launches Gaming Line on October 2
The collection arrives in stores globally today, with IKEA Singapore launching the line on October 2, according to SavePoint Gaming. Prices in Singapore scale from SG$19.90 for smaller accessories up to SG$129 for the lightweight lounge chair, which includes an adjustable headrest and built-in controller storage underneath. Additional items include a SG$39.90 laptop support with accessory storage and a SG$49.90 monitor stand equipped with headphone hooks.
YXSTABY Collection Blends Home Aesthetics with Gaming Gear
Unlike traditional gaming setups featuring aggressive angles and heavy RGB lighting, the YXSTABY collection targets shared domestic spaces with subdued aesthetics. SavePoint Gaming noted that larger items like the movable TV stand on castors and side tables utilize felt sliding doors to conceal peripherals when not in use. IKEA intends to position the collection as conventional home furnishings that double as functional gaming gear.
