Scott Shawyer Aims for Ocean Race Europe Glory

Canadian Scott Shawyer (53) generated significant buzz at the Fastnet Race.It was his first outing with his newly acquired IMOCA, pitting him against some of the fastest boats in the class, including Paprec-Arkea – a competitor he’ll face in The Ocean Race europe. Unluckily,the comparison ended prematurely after just half a day due to hydraulic issues.

Despite the setback, Shawyer’s team initially held their own among the leaders. A definitive performance assessment,especially regarding The Ocean Race Europe,remains challenging. However, one thing is clear: any shortcomings in stage results won’t be attributable to the boat. Canada Ocean Racing – Be Water is, actually, the former Groupe Dubreuil, which finished third in the 2024/25 Vendée Globe and previously competed as 11th Hour Racing.
