The Crimean peninsula, occupied by Russia, has suffered explosions in an ammunition depot after an attack by Ukrainian drones. The occupying authorities decided to evacuate the residents within a radius of five kilometers around the “emergency site”.
As confirmed by the head of Crimea, Sergei Aksionov, a Ukrainian drone attacked an ammunition depot in the Krasnogvardeisky district of the peninsula. The ammunition detonated, blowing up part of the facility. The Armed Forces of Ukraine announced for their part the destruction of a fuel depot and warehouses of the Russian army in Crimea.
“According to preliminary data, there are no victims.. The decision was made to evacuate the population within a radius of five kilometers from the emergency site to the temporary accommodation centers. To minimize the risks, it was also decided to suspend traffic on the Crimean railway,” Aksionov reports. Shortly before Aksionov’s message, it became known that the Crimean bridge had been closed, although it reopened shortly after.
On the 19th, a fire at a Russian base in Crimea forced the evacuation of 2,000 people.
Local Telegram channels have posted videos showing rising smoke columns and sounds of explosions. Oleg Kryuchkov, adviser to the head of the administration of the annexed Crimea, called on “everyone who knows the authors of these videos to report these people to the Ministry of Internal Affairs or the FSB” and called the videos taken as “I work for the enemy”.
