“Frankenstein,” “One Battle After Another,” and “The Fantastic Four” Dominate 2026 Art Directors Guild Awards

The 30th Art Directors Guild (IATSE Local 800) Excellence in Production Design Awards were handed out Saturday night at the InterContinental Los Angeles Downtown, celebrating the visionary production design teams behind the year’s most visually ambitious films and television series. “Frankenstein,” “One Battle After Another,” and “The Fantastic Four: First Steps” took top film honors, signaling potential success at the upcoming Academy Awards.

Film Winners

The awards were divided into three feature film categories:

  • Best Period Feature Film: Frankenstein (Production Designer: Tamara Deverell)
  • Best Fantasy Feature Film: The Fantastic Four: First Steps (Production Designer: Kasra Farahani)
  • Best Contemporary Feature Film: One Battle After Another (Production Designer: Florence Martin)

Oscar Predictions

Historically, the ADG Awards have been a strong indicator of success at the Academy Awards. In 20 of the past 29 years, a winner from one of the three top ADG film categories has gone on to win the Best Production Design Oscar. As of February 28, 2026, Frankenstein is considered the frontrunner for the Oscar, with an estimated 88 percent chance of winning, according to Gold Derby prediction data. Sinners is the closest competitor, with a 9 percent chance.

Deverell and Martin are both nominated in the production design category at the Academy Awards, along with the designers and decorators behind Sinners, Hamnet and Marty Supreme.
