Aer Lingus is expanding its transatlantic network with a new direct route to Indianapolis, starting next year.
This exciting addition complements the airline’s recent announcements of new services to Nashville and Las Vegas, further solidifying Dublin’s position as a hub for transatlantic travel.
Flying from Dublin to Indianapolis
Aer Lingus will operate four flights per week to Indianapolis on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays, and Saturdays. Passengers can expect return fares starting at €499. The flights will be operated by new, fuel-efficient Airbus A321XLR aircraft, offering a comfortable and modern travel experience.
Boosting Connectivity and Tourism
The Indianapolis route represents a significant milestone for Aer Lingus, as it will be the only direct air link between Europe and the city.
Lynne Embleton, CEO of Aer Lingus, stated: “With Indianapolis’ vibrant industries and rich cultural heritage, and Dublin’s strategic position as a gateway to Europe, this new route will facilitate partnerships and opportunities on both sides of the Atlantic.”
Eligible passengers will also benefit from seamless connections to 20 destinations across Europe, thanks to Dublin Airport’s strategic location and the convenience of US Customs and Border Protection Preclearance facilities.
Governor Eric J. Holcomb of Indiana welcomed the new route, saying, “Reopening a much-needed and frequently requested transatlantic route to our dear friends in Ireland will once again open new opportunities for business and leisure alike.”
The new route is expected to significantly contribute to tourism and economic growth in both Ireland and Indiana. Indianapolis offers a wealth of attractions, including the Indianapolis Colts football team, the world’s largest Children’s Museum, and the Indianapolis Museum of Art.
Aer Lingus Expands its Network
This latest announcement adds to Aer Lingus’s expanding transatlantic network, which now comprises 24 services from Ireland and the UK. In addition to its new routes to Indianapolis, Nashville, and Las Vegas, the airline has also added services to Denver, Colorado, and the twin cities of Minneapolis-St. Paul in Minnesota this year.
Despite ongoing debates regarding the passenger cap at Dublin Airport, Aer Lingus continues to invest in its network, adding new short-haul services to Malta, Marrakech, and Seville this winter.
While the Dublin-London Heathrow service has been reduced, Aer Lingus remains committed to providing an extensive range of travel options to meet the evolving needs of its customers.
