AEW‘s Title Tuesday faces a Tough Challenge Against WWE NXT
AEW Dynamite will air a day earlier this week for their annual Title Tuesday episode, with Collision following the next night. This isn’t the first time AEW has run on a Tuesday, nor is it the first time they’ll go head-to-head with WWE’s NXT brand. However, this time presents a difficult situation for Tony Khan and his team.
NXT has been cross-promoting with TNA for months, and it all appears to culminate this Tuesday. The show was initially named “Invasion,” referencing the 2001 PPV and suggesting TNA posed a threat to NXT. Though, due to the historical significance of October 7th to Israel and the Hamas attacks, WWE rebranded the event as “Showdown.”
The card for Showdown, as of this writing, is nearly finalized, with both companies showcasing their top talent in elimination matches, alongside a winner-takes-all Tag Team title match between The Hardyz and DarkState.
In contrast, Dynamite (as of this writing) only has a Mercedes Mone open challenge confirmed, plus a match between Bandido and Konosuke Takeshita & Kazuchika Okada, which might potentially be postponed due to Bandido’s injury, and a street fight between The Hurt Syndicate and The Demand.
We saw during the Wednesday Night Wars that both companies were eager to outperform each other in television ratings. This time, however, it looks like WWE has a clear advantage.
