Africa EdTech 2030: Draft Vision & Consultation

The African Union Progress Agency (AUDA-NEPAD) has released the Draft Africa EdTech 2030 Vision and Plan for public review and feedback. This plan serves as a key component of the african Union Digital Education Strategy and Implementation Plan (2023-2028), specifically addressing Strategic Objective 5: the promotion of edtech innovation and entrepreneurship.

The vision and Plan establishes a continental strategy designed to integrate educational technologies effectively and equitably throughout Africa. Built upon existing African Union frameworks – including Agenda 2063, STISA-2034, CESA 2026-2035, and the Digital Transformation Strategy for Africa (2020-2030) – the draft document highlights crucial policy areas and implementation priorities focused on:

Improving access to relevant, high-quality digital learning resources and affordable technology;
Developing robust digital infrastructure and ensuring compatibility between Member States;
Investing in the training of educators, school administrators, and policymakers to maximize the benefits of EdTech;
Encouraging research, data analysis, and informed decision-making processes;
* Cultivating thriving innovation ecosystems and supporting entrepreneurship within the EdTech sector.

AUDA-NEPAD is seeking input from a wide range of stakeholders, including Member States, regional organizations, academic institutions, civil society groups, the private sector, and development partners.
