The Ministry of Health issued a new health alert at the end of January of this year after detecting contamination in two frequently consumed milk formulas for infants: the Alula product, from the company Sonolac Nutrición Chile, and the Alfamino formula, belonging to Nestlé Chile SA

These foods are usually distributed to children up to two years old who have special dietary conditions or allergies, which increases the risk of serious complications from ingesting defective batches.

Given this situation, Dr. Felipe Negrete, from the Boris Soler office in Melipilla, explained that the vulnerability of these patients is greater due to their underlying pathologies, which can lead to a rapid deterioration of their health if they consume the contaminated product.

According to the doctor, the main and most worrying symptom that mothers and caregivers should be aware of is persistent vomiting, which can seriously affect the infant even without presenting prior signs of dehydration.

Dr. Negrete emphasized that, in the presence of this symptom, vomiting, feeding should be stopped immediately and go to a healthcare center.

Regarding the management of the containers found in homes, the professional indicated that families should review the batch number printed on the Alula or Alfamino jars and compare them with the official information from the Ministry of Health.

If you have affected units, they should not be consumed or destroyed arbitrarily; On the contrary, it is necessary to inform the health authority or the corresponding health center to follow traceability protocols and ensure food replacement.

The new health alert issued by the Ministry of Health highlights the fragility of the safety chain in critical foods for the pediatric population.

The fact that products like Alula and Alfamino present contamination is not only a logistical or production failure, but a direct risk for infants who already have delicate health conditions.

As Dr. Felipe Negrete pointed out, the key to avoiding serious outcomes lies in the immediate observation of symptoms such as vomiting and the proactive review of flocks at home.

Let us remember that the indicated products, Alula and Alfamino, are not delivered in public health, but are indicated for infants with special feeding needs.

The responsibility now falls on both the authorities to guarantee the total withdrawal of these items, and on the caregivers to act quickly, informing the health centers and ensuring that no child consumes formulas that endanger their integrity.
