Arduino VENTUNO Q: Democratizing Edge AI and Robotics
Arduino has announced the upcoming launch of its newest platform, Arduino® VENTUNO™ Q, designed to democratize edge AI. Named after the Italian word for twenty-one, VENTUNO Q builds upon the legacy of the Arduino® UNO™ family and marks a significant step in the company’s evolution as it approaches its 21st anniversary.
Uniting AI and Real-Time Control
VENTUNO Q combines high-performance AI computing with deterministic real-time control, enabling systems that can both interpret and interact with the physical world. The platform utilizes a dual-brain architecture, building upon the Arduino® UNO™ Q, but with significantly upgraded capabilities powered by the Qualcomm Dragonwing™ IQ8 Series. This includes support for both traditional and generative AI workloads, accelerated by an NPU delivering up to 40 dense TOPS, alongside a dedicated STM32H5 microcontroller for low-latency actuation and motor control.
Key Specifications and Capabilities
- Processing Power: Qualcomm Dragonwing™ IQ8 Series with NPU acceleration (up to 40 TOPS) and STM32H5 microcontroller.
- Memory: 16 GB RAM for concurrent inference and multitasking.
- Storage: Expandable 64 GB storage.
- Connectivity: Industrial I/Os including CAN-FD, PWM and high-speed GPIO; high-speed connectors for MIPI-CSI cameras, advanced audio, displays, and 2.5 Gb Ethernet.
- Operating Systems: Ubuntu and Linux Debian with upstream support on the main processor; Arduino Core on Zephyr OS for the real-time microcontroller.
Applications of VENTUNO Q
VENTUNO Q is designed to enable the development of fully autonomous AI agents that can operate offline, opening up possibilities in various fields:
- AI-Powered Systems: Offline AI voice assistants using local LLM models, smart mirrors responding to gestures, and AI-driven kiosks for healthcare or transportation.
- Robotics and Motion Control: Precise robotic arms guided by vision, service robots that recognize and follow users, and autonomous robots navigating complex environments using Visual SLAM.
- Edge AI Vision and Sensing: Proactive security systems, traffic monitoring devices, and automated quality inspection systems utilizing local VLMs.
- Education & Research: A platform for teaching computer vision and generative AI on the edge, and for rapid prototyping.
Development Environment and Compatibility
VENTUNO Q streamlines the development process through the Arduino® App Lab environment, offering a unified experience for Arduino sketches, Python scripts, and pre-built AI models – including local LLMs, VLMs, automatic speech recognition, gesture recognition, pose estimation, and object tracking. The platform is as well integrated with Edge Impulse Studio for custom AI model development.
VENTUNO Q offers flexibility in setup, functioning as either a single-board computer (SBC) or connecting to a PC via USB-C or network. It is engineered for machines that move, react, and manipulate, and boasts compatibility with UNO shields and carriers, Arduino® Modulino™ nodes, Qwiic sensors, and Raspberry Pi Hats.
Availability
Arduino VENTUNO Q will be available in Q2 2026 through the Arduino Store and official resellers including DigiKey, Farnell, Macfos, Mouser and RS. Sign up for updates.
