The colonel Yevguen Borísov has been arrested on suspicion that he spent four million euros to buy a luxury villa in spain in full war in Ukraine.
Colonel Borisov, who has been detained by the national bureau of investigations (DBR) was in charge of mobilization and recruitment in the region of Odessa (South), until his dismissal at the end of June by revelations published in the press.
He is accused of “illegal enrichment” and to help certain people avoid enlisting in the armed forces. For this he faces a sentence of “up to ten years in prison”, according to the DBR.
The office claimed in May that this officer, in exchange for bribes, ordered his subordinates to they won’t recruit certain peoplein the midst of the Russian invasion of the country, which began in February 2022.
The case was revealed by an influential Ukrainian outlet, according to which Yevgen Borisov’s mother, a pensioner, became the owner of a villa worth four million euros in December 2022 in Marbella.
