The ASBH coach takes stock,at the confectioners’ break, while his team comes out of a victory over Vannes, the leader, and occupies 13th place in the ranking.

At the start of the season, what objective did the staff set for the players during the confectioners’ break?

there was none notably in this first part of the championship. The ultimate goal was to qualify. But there was no specific objective for the number of points, matches won or place in the standings. There where, of course, implied goals, such as the desire to be undefeated at home which exists naturally. What feeling does this first part of the championship leave you with?

I took charge of training at the end of October for the visit to Colomiers. What I still have a little trouble digesting is our performance against Angoulême, at home (15-20). We are dragging this result like a ball and chain. When I see the statistics we had in this game, the number of our crossings, the number of defenders beaten… The fact of not having won is still quite frustrating. In the other matches,I am rather satisfied with the investment that was put into our content even if in this first part of the championship, there were still some home games where we were not able to put what was needed in the right place.Externally, we have also been a little transparent. We’ve looked better lately, but we still haven’t scored any points. Now you have to start rewarding ourselves. What I also said to the players during the last home match against Vannes!

in bad times, defeats, hard blows, your players have always kept their spirits up. Isn’t that what makes them strong?

It’s a group of players who have been through a lot together. It is welded, linked. They know they are wearing the Béziers jersey. And that this jersey, beyond rugby, requires investment. in relation to that, they always respond. In any case, in moments when you might think they are going to collapse, they have the capacity to rebel. All this remains fragile, of course. But it is indeed reassuring to see that the players live well together, that they like each other, respect each other. The fact of respecting each other, in fact, is meaningful. And this even if everyone is not in phase with everyone,as of course, there are always differences.

The victory against Vannes, just before the break, must have done the greatest good, right?

Yes, it did a lot of good, that’s for sure, especially since Vannes was the leader. This victory reassure
