JAKARTA, 6 january 2026 – The ASEAN Secretariat today announced the release of The ASEAN Magazine, Issue Nos. 47-48, a year-end double edition focused on ASEAN tourism and key achievements of 2025.

The latest edition of The ASEAN Magazine provides a comprehensive overview of the region’s progress throughout 2025. Notable accomplishments highlighted include Malaysia’s accomplished ASEAN Chairmanship, the adoption of the ASEAN 2045: Our Shared Future vision, and the implementation of four strategic plans designed to guide regional cooperation. A landmark event was the formal admission of Timor-Leste as the 11th Member State during the 47th ASEAN Summit, signifying ASEAN’s continued commitment to inclusivity and integration.

Socio-Cultural Pillar and Regional Priorities

The magazine features reflections from Dato Sri Tiong King Sing, the outgoing Chair of the ASEAN Socio-Cultural Community (ASCC) Council, on the initiatives and outcomes of the socio-cultural pillar. Insights from ASEAN Secretary-General Dr. Kao Kim Hourn are also included, drawing from his remarks at the 9th ASEAN Media Forum in Kuala Lumpur in november 2025. The magazine also showcases national tourism campaigns from each ASEAN member state, emphasizing the region’s diverse natural attractions and high-quality tourism services, collectively positioning ASEAN as a premier “destination for every dream.”

ASEAN’s Digital Economy Growth

Beyond tourism, ASEAN is focused on its rapidly expanding digital economy.The recently adopted ASEAN Digital Economy Framework Agreement (DEFA) is expected to harmonize digital trade rules and unlock the potential of a digital economy projected to reach $2 trillion by 2030. Investments in innovation, digital conversion, and advanced manufacturing are also crucial for the region’s continued resilience and growth .
