Nebraska senior Asher Cohen has been named the College Gymnastics Association (CGA) Specialist of the Week for the second consecutive week, solidifying his position as a top performer in men’s collegiate gymnastics. This recognition marks the third time in his career he has received this honor.
Record-Breaking Performance on Rings

All-Around Excellence and National Rankings
Beyond his rings success, Cohen also competed on parallel bars, achieving a tie for fourth place with a score of 13.65. Currently, he holds the No. 1 national ranking on rings and is ninth nationally on parallel bars.
Big Ten Recognition and Nissen-Emery Award Consideration
Cohen’s accomplishments haven’t gone unnoticed by the Big Ten Conference, as he also earned Big Ten Specialist of the Week honors this week. He shared the Big Ten honor with Charlie Larson of Michigan. Cohen is a finalist for the prestigious Nissen-Emery Award, recognizing the top gymnast in the nation.
Michigan Claims Regular Season Title
Despite Cohen’s impressive showing, the University of Michigan secured a 330.400-325.650 victory over Nebraska, clinching the Big Ten regular season title on Senior Day. The Michigan Daily noted that Cohen’s 14.7 on rings was the highest score on the event nationally this season, and a Cornhuskers team vault score of 57.
