Vietnam independence anniversary

Vietnam holds a military and police force parade to celebrate 80 years as the establishment of the democratic Republic of Vietnam, the predecessor to the current Socialist Republic of Vietnam. On this day in 1945, the contry’s communist leader Ho Chi Minh declared the country’s independence from France, even though the French continued to occupy parts of the country until 1954.
