Asia Society New York will host its annual Diwali celebration on Saturday, November 7, 2026, from 1 to 4 p.m. at 725 Park Avenue, featuring cultural performances, interactive puppet shows, and family crafts in collaboration with The Culture Tree.

What is happening at the Asia Society Diwali celebration?

The afternoon event brings music, dance, and storytelling to the institution’s eight-story red-granite headquarters, asiasociety.org reported. Visitors can explore a special Diwali menu at the in-house Leo Cafe.

Where do the performances take place?

Asia Society New York divides the afternoon’s schedule across multiple floors at 725 Park Avenue. The visitor center and main auditorium host the large-scale presentations, according to asiasociety.org.

The first-floor lobby in the visitor center features a meet-and-greet with a statue of the Indian god Ganesh. Meanwhile, the eighth floor houses hands-on arts and crafts in association with Buzy Bugs.

Who is performing in the auditorium?

The auditorium schedule opens at 1 p.m. with an introduction to Diwali. This leads into an Indian dance session at 1:15 p.m. where attendees can learn the languages of Bharatanatyam and Kathak, asiasociety.org reported.

A second dance session starts at 3 p.m. Instructors teach the Ghoomar and Bhangra dance forms during a festive party, asiasociety.org reported.

What is new for families this year?

Asia Society launches a new children’s book titled My Diwali Story: A Story of Two Childhoods, One Light during the event, asiasociety.org reported. Created in partnership with Story Heroes and The Culture Tree, the book follows the parallel Diwali experiences of a parent in India and a child in the United States.

Teen leaders run the eighth-floor storytime and interactive segments. They help younger children engage with traditions of family, gratitude, and the inner light, according to asiasociety.org.

How can visitors attend the event?

The celebration runs on Saturday, November 7, 2026, from 1 to 4 p.m. at Asia Society, located at 725 Park Avenue, New York, NY 10021, mygoldscene.com reported. Visitors should take the 6 train to the 68th Street–Hunter College station for the cleanest arrival.
