At least a woman has died and 27 people have been injured in a fire that took place this morning in a nursing home in the council of Serumas reported by Emergencies 112 Asturias.
The deceased resident has been located in her room, located on the first floor of a three-story building, where most of the fire was located.
The injured are affected by smoke inhalation, the most serious being a 46-year-old worker who has been transferred with serious prognosis to the Central University Hospital of Asturias (HUCA) in Oviedo.
The emergency services have transferred two people to the same hospital, and a third to the Cabueñes Hospital, Gijón. The other injured have been evacuated with a slight prognosis to HUCA (11), the Cabueñes hospital (11), the Nalón Valley (4) and the Álvarez Buylla (1).
Upon the arrival of the Firefighters, the fire was very developed on the first floor, so they confined the residents – a total of 74 – and workers until they managed to extinguish the fire and proceed with the evacuation.
