Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes Joins European Alliance for Critical Chemicals

The Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes Region has officially joined the European Chemistry Alliance, a notable move highlighting the region’s commitment to bolstering the chemical industry.The declaration followed a General Assembly presided over by Stéphane Séjourné, Executive Vice-President of the European Commission, which convened members from industry, regional authorities, and civil society across Member states.

during the assembly, Vice-President Séjourné emphasized the critical role chemistry plays in driving both competitiveness and the economic vitality of local and regional areas.The Alliance aims to address key challenges facing the chemical sector, fostering innovation and enduring growth.

Alongside the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes Region, other prominent players in the French and European chemical ecosystem have joined the Alliance. These include Axelera,a leading competitiveness cluster,Arkema, a major chemical company, and France Chemistry, the national chemical industry association. The Lombardy Region, a key European partner, is also actively involved.

As the leading French region for chemical production, Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes is strategically positioned to contribute to the Alliance’s work. The region’s participation will ensure that solutions to the chemical industry’s challenges are developed with a strong focus on local and regional needs, fostering a collaborative approach to innovation and economic development.
