Report of Child Injured on Bansko Ski Slope Disputed by Resort Management
Bansko Ski Zone management is disputing a report of a sled-related injury to a 13-year-old child on Saturday, December 13, 2025. The child’s father initially reported the incident to emergency services, claiming his son was struck by a sled while on a ski run.
Initial Report and Emergency Response
According to Bulgarian National Television (BNT), the father contacted the 112 emergency number to report the incident. A team from the Mountain Rescue Service (MSS) was dispatched to the scene and provided initial medical attention to the child, transporting him to a nearby medical facility. BTA News reports the police are investigating the circumstances surrounding the incident.
Resort’s Account and Security Footage
Ivan Obreykov, Marketing Director of Ulen AD, the concessionaire of Bansko Ski Zone, stated that security camera footage shows no sleds were present on the run at the time of the reported incident. Balgarianovinite.com reports Obreykov believes the child likely fell, and the father subsequently contacted emergency services.
Obreykov added that the ski area concessionaire attempted to contact the father for further information but was unable to reach him.
Sled Ban in Effect
Ulen AD had recently issued an order banning sleds on the slopes, with exceptions made for sleds used by Polish Railways and in emergency situations. This decision was made due to safety concerns and to prevent similar incidents, according to Obreykov. BTA News
