Remembering Barbara L.Meissner: A Life of Family and Service

A beloved Life Concludes

Barbara L. Meissner, a resident of Salem, Ohio, passed away peacefully on June 26, 2025, at teh age of 83. Born on July 19, 1941, in Deerfield, ohio, to Donald and Mary (Hartzell) Manypenny, Barbara dedicated her life to her family, faith, and community.Family and Legacy

Barbara’s greatest joy was her family. She shared 42 years of marriage with her husband, Francis Meissner. she is also survived by her sons, Dwight L. Weingart of Bedford, Ohio, and Dean L. Weingart of Cardington, Ohio, as well as her daughter, Charlene A. Menegos (Joseph Kramer) of Little River,South Carolina. Her legacy continues through her cherished grandchildren: Rachel (Alex) Weikart of Garner, North Carolina, Jared Weingart of Bedford, Ohio, Leah Menegos of Apex, North Carolina, and Jacob Weingart of Bedford, Ohio.

Barbara was one of six children and is remembered fondly by her brother, Paul Manypenny, and her sisters, Janet Smith, Wilma Manypenny, Rosemary Pharo, carol Thompson, and Donna Thompson, along with a multitude of nieces and nephews who benefited from her warmth and guidance. According to recent studies by the Pew Research Center, multigenerational family connections are increasingly valued, and Barbara exemplified this strong familial bond throughout her life.

A Dedicated Professional and Active Community Member

For many years, Barbara was a valued member of the Salem Regional Hospital’s Dietary Department. Her commitment to providing nourishing care to others reflected her compassionate nature. Beyond her professional life, Barbara was a devoted member of the Salem First Christian Church, finding strength and purpose in her faith. Participation in religious organizations remains a meaningful aspect of community life for millions, offering both spiritual fulfillment and social connection.
