Baylor Athletics Launches “Baylor Backyard Live” Pre-Game Concert Series at McLane Stadium
WACO, Texas – Baylor Athletics is introducing “Baylor Backyard Live,” a new pre-game concert series designed to enhance the atmosphere surrounding all six home football games this fall at McLane Stadium. The series aims to transform the pregame environment into a dynamic gathering space for students, families, and fans of all ages.
A New Era for Baylor Football Game Days
“Baylor Backyard Live” will feature live music in the Baylor Backyard Tailgate area prior to kickoff each game day. Programming will include high-energy cover bands and a mix of local artists, blending the traditions of college football and live music to build excitement before the games.
Jason Cook, Baylor’s Vice President of Marketing and Communications and Chief Marketing Officer, explained the rationale behind the new initiative. “Over the past several years across the country, we’ve seen a convergence of college football and music across all genres,” Cook said. “Live music is a great way to bring people together in a fun, energetic environment. We’ve seen it through our concert lineup at Foster Pavilion and McLane Stadium, and we’re excited to bring this energy to tailgating before each football game this fall. It just fits with the new Fan First focus.”
Part of a Broader Fan Experience Initiative
The concert series is part of Baylor’s broader “Fan First” initiatives announced earlier this spring, designed to elevate the entire football game day experience both inside and outside McLane Stadium. “Baylor Backyard Live” expands that focus by enhancing the pre-game environment and building energy for students, alumni, and the Waco community.
Doug McNamee, Vice President and Director of Intercollegiate Athletics, emphasized the importance of creating a vibrant atmosphere. “Baylor Backyard Live is all about keeping the momentum going,” McNamee said. “We want our fans to feel that energy the second they step on site at McLane.”
Logistics and Details
With tailgating operations now managed in-house by Baylor Athletics, the department will oversee stage placement and layout to ensure “Baylor Backyard Live” enhances the tailgate experience. The concerts will begin immediately following the Bear Walk, approximately one hour and 45 minutes prior to kickoff, and will run for one hour at each home game. The series is free for all fans to attend.
Additional details, including featured performers and game-specific programming, will be announced throughout the season as part of Baylor’s continued “Fan First” rollout. More information on Baylor football and “Fan First” initiatives can be found at BaylorBears.com.
