Canadiens Host Kraken in Home Opener
The excitement of hockey is back. Its an old cliché, but it remains true. There’s something special about game nights at the Bell Center, and that’s especially true for this home opener against the Seattle Kraken.
The Canadiens have a wind of optimism in their sails. After two wins in three games on the road to start the campaign and the long-term signing of Lane Hutson the day before, the atmosphere seems to be at its best, both inside the locker room and among the fans.
After a setback in Toronto in the curtain-raiser, Montreal followed up with a convincing win in Detroit and a close victory on the Blackhawks’ ice.Among the great revelations of this short trip, zachary Bolduc exposed his potential with three goals in as many matches.
“It’s fun to have this game tonight after a good trip,” explained head coach Martin St-Louis during a press briefing after the team’s morning practice.”I think starting on the road, I like that, it galvanizes the group quickly. You also have to look for results and perform. I think we played well. We went for 4 points. It’s always exciting to have your first game at home.”
Nick Suzuki returned to his usual spot atop the team’s scoring list with five assists. In total, only three players have not yet put their name on the scoresheet, namely the 4th trio composed of Jake evans, Josh Anderson and Patrik Laine.
“I find that Laine does his job at 5 against 5. This is where the game is played. Aside from the Suzuki line, we have built three trios that play well defensively, but can contribute offensively,” said St-Louis.
Samuel Montembeault will be in goal for Montreal for this first duel at home.
for its part, the Kraken started the season strong with two victories in as many duels.Goaltender Joey Daccord has been particularly brilliant, allowing only two goals on 63 shots since the start of the season.
