Benidorm Fest 2027: RTVE Unveils Plans for Sixth Edition and Future of Past Winners
RTVE (Radiotelevisión Española) held a press conference on Tuesday, March 24, 2026, outlining key updates for the Benidorm Fest 2027 and detailing the next steps for the winners of the 2026 competition, Tony Grox & LUCYCALYS and Spotify Award recipient, ASHA. The event signaled the official launch of preparations for the sixth edition of the increasingly popular Spanish music festival.
Commitment to Growth and Professionalization
Sergio Calderón, Director of TVE, reaffirmed RTVE’s commitment to the Benidorm Fest, describing it as “the Spanish music festival.” He emphasized the organization’s dedication to building brand recognition within the music industry, stating, “We are committed to continuing to build a brand in the music industry. We do not stop at a declaration of intentions but rather at clear facts.”
César Vallejo, Director of Benidorm Fest, echoed this sentiment, characterizing the event as “the great annual event for music” and highlighting its importance in providing artists with exposure opportunities unique within the Spanish music scene.
Key Dates and Application Process
RTVE announced an earlier-than-usual opening of the submission window for songs for Benidorm Fest 2027. Artists, composers, and producers can submit their entries between April 6 and July 12, 2027 – the earliest call for submissions to date. This adjustment aims to facilitate greater participation and improve the planning of the selection process. Infobae reports that Vallejo explained this decision was made to allow more time for communication with record labels and a more thorough evaluation of submissions.
Vocal Processing and Artistic Team
In a significant change, RTVE will consider songs incorporating vocal processing tools, such as autotune, provided artists demonstrate vocal proficiency. LOS40 details that this update reflects the evolving landscape of modern music production.
The artistic team, led by artistic director Sergio Jaen, choreographer Borja Rueda, and visual director Ari Levelä, will remain in place for the 2027 edition, building on the success of the 2026 festival. Calderón noted the “enormous change” in audiovisual quality and praised the team’s work.
Future Plans for Winners: Tony Grox & LUCYCALYS and ASHA
Tony Grox & LUCYCALYS, winners of the 2026 Benidorm Fest with their song “T AMARÉ,” will travel to Miami to collaborate with renowned producer Tainy on a new song, facilitated by Univision. Ignacio Meyer, President of Univision, announced Tainy will serve as the executive producer alongside Albert Hype and J. Rosa. RTVE reports that Tony Grox expressed his excitement, recalling a previous encounter with Tainy and a long-held desire to collaborate.
ASHA, the winner of the Spotify Award at the 2026 Benidorm Fest, will record a Spotify Single in Stockholm on April 14 and 15. Melanie Parejo, Spotify’s Director of Music for Southern and Eastern Europe, announced the renewal of the agreement between RTVE and Spotify, which will continue to support the award in the next edition of the festival. Spotify data indicates that participation in Benidorm Fest 2026 led to an average 30% increase in streams for participating artists.
Continued Collaboration and Expansion
María Eizaguirre, RTVE’s Director of Communication and Participation, highlighted ongoing initiatives surrounding the festival, including potential collaborations with “La Vuelta” and film soundtracks. RTVE is actively working to strengthen its partnerships and expand the reach of the Benidorm Fest platform.
