One Piece, Naruto, and Bleach: The Shonen Big Three Power Ranking in 2026
The debate regarding which of the “Big Three” titles reigns supreme has always been a central topic in the anime and manga fandom. Still, a recent power ranking has evaluated the global impact and commercial dominance of the industry’s largest anime and manga franchises, offering a data-driven perspective.
The “Big Three” label traditionally refers to One Piece, Naruto, and Bleach, the trio of Weekly Shonen Jump hits that dominated the early 2000s. As the industry evolves and fresh fans emerge, the definitive nature of this list has been frequently challenged. Now, the latest official data report from the Manga Research Institute has tracked the popularity of various titles to reveal which series holds the most power across the global market.
IP Power Ranking Methodology
Per PR Times, the Manga Research Institute survey evaluated 300 titles extracted from MyAnimeList’s popularity rankings based on brand awareness, number of fans, SNS popularity, original work popularity, and earning power. The research targeted fans and markets globally (excluding mainland China) to focus on broad overseas trends.
2026 IP Power Ranking Results
Here are the top eight titles from the IP Power Ranking published by the Manga Research Institute:
- One Piece
- Naruto
- Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba
- Jujutsu Kaisen
- Dragon Ball
- My Hero Academia
- Solo Leveling
- Blue Lock
One Piece and Naruto Maintain Dominance
Eiichiro Oda’s One Piece has secured the number one spot in the power rankings for the second consecutive year. The series continues to dominate both print and broadcast media, establishing itself as the leader of the Big Three. Following closely in second place is Naruto, which has also retained its position as runner-up. Despite the Naruto anime concluding years ago and the sequel series, Boruto: Naruto Next Generations, going on hiatus, the franchise continues to remain highly relevant.
Bleach Falls From Grace
Perhaps the most significant shift in the rankings is the absence of Bleach from the top eight entirely. While Bleach has experienced a resurgence in popularity due to the ongoing adaptation of the Thousand-Year Blood War arc, it was unable to match the global momentum of newer franchises like Demon Slayer, Jujutsu Kaisen, Solo Leveling, or even Blue Lock.
Demon Slayer’s Rise to Prominence
Over the last few years, Demon Slayer has seen substantial growth, securing the third spot in the latest power rankings. The franchise’s theatrical performance has been crucial to this success. The Mugen Train movie holds the all-time Japanese box office record at 40.7 billion yen, and the 2025 release of Infinity Castle broke international records to turn into the highest-grossing Japanese movie worldwide. The manga is equally impactful, reaching a cumulative worldwide circulation of 220 million copies.
Jujutsu Kaisen and Emerging Titles
In last year’s power rankings, Jujutsu Kaisen held third place. However, the conclusion of Gege Akutami’s manga and a lack of major new releases led to its drop to the fourth spot in the 2026 rankings. Meanwhile, Solo Leveling and Blue Lock have also seen a surge in popularity, breaking into the top eight after ranking 14th and 21st, respectively, last year. However, the momentum of Solo Leveling may soon decline, as news regarding the third season of the anime remains elusive.
