BELLUNO – Autumn, season of large rains: rivers and streams will be observed closely. «We have invested almost 900 million in 10 years on hydrogeological risk in the province, opening over a thousand construction sites to thus improve the safety of waterways. There are still several construction sites open throughout the province, three in Santo stefano, as many in Alpago, plus two others who are about to begin. Our goal is clear: to continue wiht hydrogeological safety works, even if this is a job that is not seen becuase it often happens outside the inhabited centers ». To take stock of the situation, on the eve of the rainiest season of the year and with a probable equinox storm already upon us, is the regional councilor for civil protection Gianpaolo Bottacin, who is about to conclude his mandate. «As long as I am in office, thay will continue to do works that, I underline, do not involve road issues. We have competence only on waterways. The veneto Region, though, has a 4 billion euro plan and has already created works for 2.2 billion. I hope those who come after me can carry out this commitment, but it will not be easy ».
The works
Water courses such as the Piave or the Cordevole are notoriously those who worry most in view of the possible autumn floods.
