Binghamton Lacrosse Defeats UMass Lowell 16-9 in America East Opener
VESTAL, N.Y. – The Binghamton men’s lacrosse team (2-5, 1-0 America East) defeated UMass Lowell (2-4, 0-1 America East) 16-9 on Saturday at the Bearcats Sports Complex, marking their first conference win of the season.
Girolamo Shines with Career-High Goals
Andrew Girolamo led the Bearcats with a career-high seven goals, coming close to tying the program record of eight goals in a game. This is the most goals scored by a Binghamton player in a single game since Matthew Keegan also scored seven against UMass Lowell on April 1, 2023.
Offensive Performance
Will Feldmann and Tyler Martini each contributed four points, with one goal and three assists apiece. Drew Filanowski and Gavin Jacobsen added three points each, scoring two goals and one assist. Nolan Sharkey also had a career day, scoring two goals for Binghamton.
Defensive Strength
Connor Winters was strong in goal, making 16 saves for the Bearcats. This extends his streak of games with at least 10 saves to nine, dating back to last season. He also set a new season high with four ground balls.
Game Recap
UMass Lowell started strong, taking an early 2-0 lead with goals from Ryan Proctor and Nolan Marshall. Girolamo responded for Binghamton, scoring his first goal at 5:05. After another goal from UMass Lowell’s Danny Burke, Girolamo scored again to close out the first quarter.
The second quarter saw a back-and-forth battle, with Sharkey tying the game at three. After trading goals, Girolamo tied the game at five, and Feldmann gave Binghamton the lead. Jacobsen closed out the half with a goal in the final seconds, giving the Bearcats a 7-5 advantage at halftime.
Binghamton continued its momentum into the third quarter, scoring the first three goals. Girolamo added two more goals before the end of the quarter, bringing his total to six for the game. The Bearcats led 12-7 entering the fourth quarter.
UMass Lowell’s Alex Lafreniere completed his hat trick early in the fourth, but Binghamton responded with four of the final five goals, including two more from Girolamo, securing the 16-9 victory.

- Flynn Wilson won 10 faceoff attempts against a top-performing opponent, collecting a team-high six ground balls.
