About the Walk:
This walk will explore the diverse habitats of Kenneth Hahn State Recreation Area, including landscaped parkland, an artificial creek and lake, and areas of Coastal sage Scrub. These varied environments support a rich bird population. Participants can expect to see many resident species,including the black Phoebe,Cassin’s Kingbird,California Towhee,Spotted Towhee,Song Sparrow,Red-tailed Hawk,Red-shouldered Hawk,and Cooper’s Hawk.
Bird sightings can vary seasonally. For information on birds likely to be present during the walk, consult the current issue of the Western Tanager newsletter, published by the Southern California birders (https://www.scbirds.org/western-tanager/).
