Kahlil Joseph’s ‘BLKNWS: Terms & Conditions’ Immerses Audiences at The Underground Cinema
London’s modern Underground Cinema is launching with a month-long residency of Kahlil Joseph’s feature-length work, BLKNWS: Terms & Conditions, beginning February 27th, 2026. The film, adapted from Joseph’s acclaimed video art installation BLKNWS, is being described as a sonic and visual mixtape exploring Black consciousness.
A Cinematic Mixtape
BLKNWS: Terms & Conditions deliberately blurs the lines between fiction, history and contemporary culture. The film creates a collision of voices and perspectives, featuring fictionalized figures like W.E.B. Du Bois and Marcus Garvey alongside artists, musicians, Joseph’s family, and even elements of Twitter conversations . Joseph conceived the film with the fluidity and creativity of an album, allowing for contributions from a diverse range of collaborators, including poets, writers, editors, designers, musicians, and scholars .
Soundtrack Features Diverse Artists
The film’s soundtrack is a key component of the experience, featuring original music from Klein, alongside tracks from electronic music pioneer Aphex Twin, Sampha, Robert Hood, Kelsey Lu, and Flying Lotus . Joseph has a history of collaboration with many of these artists, having directed music videos for Kendrick Lamar, Sampha, Flying Lotus, and Beyoncé .
