Bose Buys Skullcandy to Expand Reach Across Youth Audio Markets

Audio equipment manufacturer Bose has acquired headphone and speaker brand Skullcandy, bringing two major audio brands under a single corporate owner, kursors.lv reported. Announced on October 21, 2026, the transaction places Skullcandy as a separate unit within Bose’s consumer audio segment.

Park City Operations Continue as Bose Integration Unfolds

Following the acquisition, Skullcandy will maintain its headquarters in Park City, Utah, where the brand was originally established in 2003. The business will operate as a standalone unit within Bose’s Premium Consumer Audio division, preserving its distinct identity rather than facing immediate replacement by Bose-branded alternatives. Skullcandy gains broader access to Bose’s research, technology, global distribution networks, and financial resources. Meanwhile, Bose secures a direct pipeline to younger demographics heavily invested in sports, video games, music, and fitness—verticals where the premium manufacturer historically held smaller market shares.

Shared Engineering Preceded the Corporate Merger

The corporate buyout follows a multi-year engineering partnership between the two former competitors. Skullcandy previously released several products featuring “Sound by Bose” acoustic tuning, starting in April 2025 with the Method 360 ANC wireless earbuds. That collaboration deepened in July 2026 with the release of the Skullcandy Crusher 1080 ANC headphones, which integrated proprietary Bose hardware features such as QuietControl active noise cancellation, TrueSpatial immersive audio, and the Bose WaveForm Audio Engine.

Broader Corporate Consolidation Strategy Drives Deal

The Skullcandy acquisition is part of an expansion campaign pursued by Bose since November 2024 to diversify beyond conventional headphones and speakers into luxury audio, gaming, and connected devices. Over the prior two-year window, Bose absorbed several industry entities, including McIntosh and Sonus faber under the McIntosh Group in November 2024, alongside StreamUnlimited Engineering and Firelight Technologies. Bose CEO Lila Snyder emphasized that the company is actively expanding its influence through targeted technology partnerships and portfolio growth alongside its legacy product lines.
