George Russell & Brad Pitt Film Viral Mercedes Ad in Las Vegas

While Las Vegas was mostly quiet before a busy Formula 1 weekend, Caesars Palace was buzzing with activity as George Russell and Brad Pitt filmed an advert for Mercedes. A new behind-the-scenes video from photographer Larry Chen details the unusual production of the ad, which quickly went viral.

The shoot centered around a heavily camouflaged prototype of the new AMG GT, and took place between 7pm and 7am. This allowed the team to take advantage of the empty streets of Las Vegas. It wasn’t easy, though; Chen described the production as “upside down.”

The video features Pitt as a guest waiting for his car to be returned by a valet – Russell. The Mercedes driver delivers the car with a flourish, performing donuts and impressive drifts along the way.

Chen explained that Russell quickly got into character when he arrived late at night. “We started off with this really fun scene of him pretending to be a bored valet driver,” Chen said. The shoot also involved specific requests from sponsors. “I was told I always had to show his IWC wristwatch… I always made him pull back his sleeve,” Chen added with a laugh.
