Hobgood Park Youth Baseball Coaches Suspended After Halloween Game Altercation
Two assistant coaches for a 12U youth baseball team are facing disciplinary action after a physical altercation erupted during a game at Hobgood Park in Woodstock, Georgia, wsbtv.com reported. The dispute broke out on Halloween off Towne Lake Parkway, triggered by an argument over players batting out of order. Video footage of the incident shows the two men inspecting a phone and pointing toward the field before the confrontation escalates into a direct, face-to-face shouting match. Moments later, one coach shoves the other in the head while young players aged 11 and 12 watch from the field.
League leadership moved swiftly following the weekend game. According to fox5atlanta.com, the Hobgood Baseball Board of Directors issued immediate suspensions to both assistant coaches for the remainder of the season. The board permanently banned the coach who initiated the physical strike from ever coaching at the park again. In a formal statement distributed to league families, officials condemned the violence, stating that the actions did not represent the standards of Hobgood Baseball and emphasizing that the organization takes the safety of its players and families seriously. The board stated: First and foremost, what happened Saturday was completely unacceptable and does not represent the values or standards of Hobgood Baseball,
and added: What happened Saturday was unacceptable, and we are committed to ensuring accountability while continuing to provide a safe, positive environment for every player and family at Hobgood.
Thank you for your patience as we work through this situation,
the statement continued.

League Officials Confirm Volunteers Completed Background Screenings
The public video footage prompted immediate scrutiny regarding league safety protocols, specifically whether the adults on the field had undergone proper screening. Hobgood Baseball officials addressed those concerns by confirming that every volunteer operating inside the dugout or on the field had completed standard background screenings prior to the start of the season, wsbtv.com reported. The board reiterated its commitment to maintaining a safe environment for every player and family trusting the league with their children.
Parents interviewed at the facility expressed sharp criticism over the adult behavior, pointing out that youth sports exist to teach teamwork and sportsmanship rather than aggression. Parent Michele Goggins called the physical confrontation uncalled for, noting that while disagreements on calls happen, violence is entirely unacceptable in front of children. Fellow parent Cameron Clark added that the adults should have set aside their differences for the benefit of the kids. Goggins noted that the disciplinary action was a good call to make because a precedent must be set for the future, asserting that there definitely should be a consequence.
