Elden Ring: Nightreign’s Network Test Hit with Technical Difficulties, But Second Chance on Horizon
The highly anticipated network test for Elden Ring: Nightreign, FromSoftware’s upcoming co-op roguelike expansion, launched earlier this week with a major hurdle: widespread server issues. Players eager to dive into the thrilling new content faced a series of frustrating problems, ranging from login failures and disconnections to persistent loading screens.
While some users managed to briefly access the "Roundtable Hold" hub, many found themselves unable to get past the login screen altogether. Prominent streamers and content creators also struggled to showcase the game, highlighting the severity of the connectivity problems. Complaints were particularly loud from PS5 players.
FromSoftware responded swiftly with unscheduled server maintenance attempts, but these efforts proved largely ineffective, leaving many players dissatisfied and hoping for an extension.
Fortunately, a second test phase has been confirmed.
Taking to the official Elden Ring X account, the developers communicated their commitment to addressing the technical issues and announced a new session scheduled for the afternoon of February 15th (CET). This new test appears to aim to offer a more stable experience and allows players a fresh opportunity to explore Nightreign’s new features and mechanics.
Elden Ring: Nightreign – A Glimpse into the Uncertain Future
While the network test problems cast a shadow on the initial launch, Elden Ring: Nightreign remains a highly anticipated release. Set within the shadowy lore of the Elden Ring universe, this new expansion promises a fresh cooperative experience that blends familiar elements with roguelike mechanics.
Players will take on the role of one of eight unique heroes, venturing through procedurally generated challenges and facing a variety of adversaries. Combat appears to remain the realm’s core, building on the established foundations of stamina management and rewarding player skill.
But the rebuilding of trust is essential for FromSoftware.
Can they redeem themselves in the eyes of eager fans with a smooth and enjoyable second network test? Only time, and a stable connection, will tell.
The full release of Elden Ring: Nightreign is scheduled for May 30, 2025, for PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC.
