Don’t Be Complacent About Flu: Get Vaccinated This Winter
Flu season is approaching, and health experts are urging everyone to get vaccinated to protect themselves and their loved ones. Dr. Geeta Iyer, a GP and deputy chief medical officer for Bristol, North Somerset, and South Gloucestershire Integrated Care Board, warns against complacency about the flu virus.
Why Get the Flu Shot?
“It’s really important that people have (the vaccine) as a focus for being strong for winter, making sure they are well, making sure they are not just protecting themselves but also their family and loved ones,” Dr. Iyer emphasizes.
Many people see the flu vaccine as a small price to pay for significant protection. One recipient summed it up perfectly: “I’d rather have a stab in the arm, which doesn’t last, than have flu and possibly die.” Another added, “There’s no point – why die early?”
Protect Yourself and Others
Getting vaccinated not only protects you from the flu but also helps to reduce the spread of the virus to vulnerable individuals like young children, the elderly, and those with underlying health conditions.
Don’t wait until you’re sick. Take control of your health this winter and get your flu shot today.
