Manhattan Freeview Boxes Get Major Picture Quality Boost

Two popular Freeview boxes from Manhattan are receiving a significant update that promises improved picture quality, bug fixes, and more. The Manhattan T4 and T4-R, known for their user-friendliness and recording capabilities, are getting a major upgrade that will significantly enhance the viewing experience.

Enhanced Picture Quality for a Better View

The most noticeable change in this update is the improvement in picture quality. Viewers can expect “enhanced sharpness and detail for a better viewing experience” with a noticeable “step up in picture clarity”.

This upgrade benefits both standard definition (SD) Freeview channels and on-demand content, making your favorite shows look sharper and more detailed.

Bug Fixes & Performance Improvements

Beyond picture quality, the update tackles several known issues. Glitches that caused the system to freeze or crash during recording and playback, including while scheduling series recordings or fast-forwarding at high speeds, have been resolved.

A bug that prevented recordings from stopping when deleting a series recording mid-process has also been addressed.

Manhattan acknowledges a rare issue affecting the T4R model where the machine may become unresponsive when entering or exiting Sleep or Smart standby mode. While a fix is in development, users experiencing this problem will need to disconnect and reconnect power to restart the box.

What’s Next? YouTube on the Horizon

In a matter of weeks, a subsequent update is expected to bring the popular YouTube app to the Manhattan Freeview boxes.
