French Chambers of Commerce Face Notable Funding Cuts in 2026
The French government, under the direction of Sébastien Lecornu, is implementing austerity measures to address public finances, and the Chambers of Commerce and Industry (CCI) will be significantly impacted. The 2026 finance bill proposes a reduction of approximately €175 million in public funding for the CCI, representing a cut of roughly one-third of their current government support.
This reduction will primarily affect assigned taxes, specifically those levied on the Contribution on the Value of Added Production (CVAE) and the Business Property Tax (CFE). These taxes currently constitute about one-third of the CCI’s overall budget. The remaining portion of their funding is derived from revenue generated through the services they provide to businesses.
These cuts are part of a broader effort to consolidate public spending and streamline government support for economic organizations. The impact of these changes on the services offered by the CCI to french businesses remains to be seen.
