Boy Injured in Burgas Traffic Incident

A 21-year-old driver struck a 4-year-old boy while reversing in Burgas, according to the Regional Directorate of the Ministry of Interior.

The incident occurred on Osogovo Street in the Pobeda Quarter, with the signal received at 5:41 PM.Police responding to the scene found that a reversing Audi A4 had struck and knocked down the 4-year-old boy. Relatives transported the child to UMBAL-burgas hospital.

Medical examinations revealed the boy suffered a cracked skull and a ruptured eardrum. He is currently in the hospital’s neurosurgery department, and his life is not in danger.

The driver tested negative for alcohol and drugs and has been detained, with pre-trial proceedings initiated.

Nationwide, 20 serious road accidents occurred in the past 24 hours, resulting in one fatality and 28 injuries, the Ministry of Interior reports. In Sofia, two severe and 22 minor crashes were recorded, with three injuries.

So far this month, 41 peopel have died and 834 have been injured in road accidents across the country, with a total of 632 crashes registered.

From the beginning of the year, statistics show 227 fatalities and 5561 injuries resulting from 4418 road accidents. This represents an increase of 17 fatalities compared to the same period in 2024, when 294 people were killed in road accidents.
