Canarias afronta el último domingo de octubre con un nuevo episodio de calima, temperaturas que superarán los 30 grados en algunos puntos y viento que podría alcanzar rachas muy fuertes.
Canary Islands Face Weekend Heat Wave and Suspended Dust
Canaries across the Canary Islands are confronting a sharp meteorological shift this Sunday, October 25, as a new episode of calima dust, rising temperatures exceeding 30 degrees Celsius, and strong winds sweep through the archipelago, AtlánticoHoy reported. This sudden change arrives directly on the heels of several days of instability and rainfall associated with a DANA weather system. The Agencia Estatal de Meteorología (Aemet) forecasts that the incoming African air mass will elevate maximum temperatures significantly, particularly across mid-altitudes and southern mountain peaks. The Sunday will be marked by the return of heat and calima to the Canaries, following a week dominated by rains, with temperatures typical of warmer days in certain areas of the archipelago.
Gran Canaria and Lanzarote Temperatures Surpass 30 Degrees
Gran Canaria will experience some of the most intense heat of the archipelago, with thermometers expected to surpass 30 degrees Celsius in southern and western slopes. In Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, temperatures will range from a low of 22 degrees to a high of 26 degrees. Meanwhile, Diario de Avisos noted that southern interior regions of Lanzarote will match those 30-degree peaks, while Arrecife records temperatures between 21 and 26 degrees under high-altitude suspended dust.
Fuerteventura shares these warm conditions, featuring scattered mid and high-level clouds alongside localized temperature increases in the island’s far south. Puerto del Rosario maintains a steady range between 21 and 26 degrees. Across Tenerife, maximum temperatures will climb notably in southern and southwestern slopes, pushing Santa Cruz de Tenerife to reach up to 27 degrees. La Palma anticipates a high of 26 degrees alongside potential light, occasional rainfall in northeastern mid-altitudes during the early morning hours.
Calima and Maritime Gale Warnings
Winds blowing from the northeast will reach force 5 or 6, occasionally peaking at force 7 in open waters.

The western islands experience severe wind vectors alongside the rising heat. El Hierro sees strong gusts along southeastern coasts and northwestern tips, keeping Valverde cooler between 17 and 21 degrees. Calima will be another of the standout phenomena of this Sunday, with the presence of suspended dust in a good part of the archipelago, whilst temperatures across the islands reflect values characteristic of considerably hotter periods.
