Cap Rocat Festival 2026: Flórez, Buchbinder, and Puccini Highlight Mallorca’s Classical Music Scene

The Cap Rocat Festival will return to Mallorca from July 31 to August 2, 2026, bringing together international music stars for three days of performances in a unique setting: the historic Cap Rocat Hotel, a former military fortress. The festival, a project of the Madina Mayurqa Foundation, aims to promote culture and position the Balearic Islands as a key destination for classical music.

Lyrical Gala with Juan Diego Flórez

The festival will open on July 31 with a lyrical gala featuring tenor Juan Diego Flórez, recognized for his impeccable technique and expressiveness. Flórez will perform selections of opera by Rossini, zarzuela compositions, and orchestral pieces, accompanied by the Balearic Islands Symphony Orchestra and the Cap Rocat Festival Choir. The gala will be directed by Pablo Mielgo, director of the Balearic Islands Symphony Orchestra.

Pianist Rudolf Buchbinder to Perform

On August 1, renowned pianist Rudolf Buchbinder will present an intimate recital featuring works by Mozart, Beethoven, and Schubert in the Cap Rocat Concert Hall. Buchbinder is a regular performer at the Salzburg Festival and other major events.

Puccini’s Tosca to Close the Festival

The festival will conclude on August 2 with a concert version of Giacomo Puccini’s Tosca. The performance will feature soprano Lise Davidsen (Tosca), tenor Freddie De Tommaso (Cavaradossi), baritone Ludovic Tézier (Scarpia), and other top-level artists. Giacomo Sagripanti will conduct the Balearic Islands Symphony Orchestra and the Cap Rocat Festival Choir.

Commitment to Talent and Musical Education

The Madina Mayurqa Foundation continues its commitment to supporting talent and music education with the “Cap Rocat Festival inspires: boost to talent” training day on August 1. This event will include a masterclass led by baritone Ludovic Tézier, open to singers selected through auditions. A round table discussion on the world of singing will also be held, and the event is free to the public with registration at info@festivalcaprocat.com. The Cap Rocat Festival Choir, created by maestro Joan Company, will also continue to provide opportunities for local singers and professionals.
