CarMax confirmed Wednesday it issued termination notices to around 350 employees this week. This marks the company’s second round of layoffs in 14 months,with 25 positions impacted in the Richmond area.

The cuts affect the company’s Customer Experience Center (CEC), which supports customers throughout the car buying and selling process.

“We recently reviewed our cecs and determined reorganization will best serve customers and strengthen our business,” CarMax stated. “After streamlining customer interaction through process and technology improvements, we can now realign work areas and consolidate some teams.”

CarMax is offering affected employees severance pay, career support, and the chance to apply for other openings within the company.

With over 30,000 employees across corporate roles and more than 250 retail locations nationwide, CarMax employs over 2,000 people in the Richmond region.
