The Minister of Territory of the Generalitat of Catalonia, Esther Capellahas announced the resolution of the allegations to the Catalan memory of the Government Housing Law and has said that the properties will be reduced from ten to five to consider the owners as large holders.

This was stated on Wednesday at a press conference where he detailed that the allegation has been resolved favorably because the new Housing Law approved in Congress already contemplates the change. Capella explained that another allegation that they have approved is that social promoters whose purpose is “the promotion of social protection properties for rent” will not be considered large holders, although those who are dedicated to selling homes, yes.

These are the only two allegations that have modified the initial report prepared by the Government in June and which amounts to 140 municipalities that are stressed areaswhere the rental limitation provided by the Law must be applied.

The Minister has detailed that there have been a total of 50 allegations that dealt with four axes: the impossibility of applying the Law in Catalonia; economic compensation to the owners; the consideration of social promoters as large holders, and the change in the definition of large holders.

Thus, it has provided that the Government “should endorse the memory” that the Generalitat has presented this Wednesday and has said that the Housing Law could enter into force in Catalonia in August.
