Catherine Tyldesley: Never Say Never to a Coronation Street Return

Former Coronation Street favourite Catherine Tyldesley has hinted at a possible return to Weatherfield, saying “never say never”.

The actress, known for her portrayal of Eva Price, left the popular ITV soap in 2018 after seven years. While she’s moved on to exciting new projects, including Channel 5’s The Good Ship Murder, the door remains open for a Rovers Return comeback.

A Fond Farewell and Future Possibilities

“Coronation Street feels like forever ago, but I always look back with such great fondness,” Tyldesley told Prima magazine. “They’ve asked me to go back a couple of times over the years, and it just so happened that I was busy with other projects. But if they approached me with an amazing storyline and the time was right, of course, I’d go back. So it’s always a case of never say never.”

Reunited On Screen: A Familiar Face

Tyldesley reunites with former Coronation Street co-star, singer Shayne Ward, in The Good Ship Murder. Ward, famous for winning The X Factor‘s second season, played Aidan Connor on the soap. Now, he portrays cabaret singer-turned-detective Jack Grayling in the Channel 5 crime drama.

Tyldesley stars as First Officer Kate Woods, describing their on-screen chemistry: “We’re like the naughty kids at school who shouldn’t be sat together! It makes life so much easier because we’ve got that relationship, which gives us good chemistry. He kept me sane during season one, because I’d just had a baby, and his other half had also just had a baby, and so we kind of propped each other up emotionally while we were both missing the kids.”

Beyond acting, Tyldesley candidly shares her experiences navigating motherhood and her relationship with her body. “I found it very difficult after my second child. I hate the words ‘spring back’ because you’ve achieved something so amazing,” she admitted.
