Amorim Criticizes Western Narrative on Venezuela

Amorim-considered one of the architects of Brazil’s sovereign foreign policy-underlined that The personalization of the Venezuelan conflict responds to interests that seek to delegitimize the self-determination of peoples and reconfigure the political map of the region under the parameters of Washington and Brussels.

In his analysis, Amorim insists that Brazil cannot be a passive spectator or a satellite of external powers. Returning to the spirit of active diplomacy that characterized Lula da Silva’s governments, the former foreign minister suggests that The only responsible way to address the Venezuelan crisis is multilateral dialogue, with Brazil as mediator and guarantor of a negotiated exit.

“Brazil must defend its diplomatic autonomy without giving in to punitive narratives that only aggravate conflicts,” amorim warns.
