A Rescued Myna Finds a home and Healing at Madras Christian Collage School

Kindergarten students at Madras Christian College Matriculation Higher Secondary School in Chetpet eagerly anticipate a special visitor during their school day. This frequent, and welcomed, interruption comes in the form of a rescued myna bird now thriving on the school campus.

The school’s principal and correspondent is well-known for her dedication to rescuing and rehabilitating injured wildlife. She took the myna in on July 4th from a friend, providing direct and consistent care. This commitment means the bird often accompanies her on her daily rounds throughout the school.

“When it first arrived, the myna was severely shaken and appeared lifeless,” explains the principal. “It had fallen from a third-story building where it had been nesting near an air conditioning unit.”

She immediately took the bird under her care, focusing on helping it adjust to its new surroundings. The myna has quickly become a beloved member of the school community, readily seeking food and attention.

This rescued myna joins a growing list of animals who have found refuge and recovery at MCC School. Previously, injured pigeons, young parakeets, and even a young hare have been successfully rehabilitated on the campus, demonstrating a long-standing commitment to animal welfare.
