Chris Guiliano Shatters Pro Swim Series Record in 100m Freestyle
Westmont, Illinois – Chris Guiliano delivered a stunning performance at the 2026 Pro Swim Series in Westmont, Illinois, on Wednesday, March 4th, setting a new Pro Swim Series record in the men’s 100-meter freestyle. Guiliano stopped the clock at 47.38 seconds, establishing both a new Pro Swim Series record and the fastest time in the world this season.
Record-Breaking Swim
Guiliano’s time matches his winning time from the 2024 U.S. Olympic Trials in Indianapolis and is the second-fastest of his career, trailing only his 47.25 from the semifinals of those same trials. The previous Pro Swim Series record of 48.00, held by Nathan Adrian since 2016, was decisively broken, marking the first time anyone has completed the event in under 48 seconds in Pro Swim Series history.
Race Breakdown
Guiliano dominated the preliminary heat, establishing a significant lead at the first turn with a 50-meter split of 22.42 – more than half a second ahead of his competitors. He extended this advantage in the second 50 meters, finishing with a time of 24.96.
Qualifiers and Results
Matt King finished second with a time of 48.61, while Brooks Curry and Sean Niewold tied for third at 48.81. Other swimmers qualifying for the semi-finals include Luke Hobson, Ruslan Gaziev, Lamar Taylor, Matt Temple, Finlay Knox, Charlie Hawke, Tommy Neill, Caleb Dressel, Robin Yeboah, Destin Lasco, Kieran Smith, and Jack Dahlgren.
Guiliano’s Recent Successes
This performance builds on Guiliano’s success at the Pro Swim Series stage in Austin earlier this January, where he won the 100-meter freestyle in 48.14. In 2025, Guiliano achieved a bronze medal in the 4×100 freestyle relay at the World Cup, swimming 47.66 in the heats and 47.43 in the final.
