Divinópolis Steps Up Dengue Prevention Effort in Response to Data-Driven Insights
Divinópolis Intensifies Dengue Prevention Measures Amidst Data-Driven Alert
As dengue fever season approaches, Divinópolis is taking proactive steps to combat the threat. Recent data reveals a concerning increase in the Aedes aegypti mosquito index, prompting the Municipal Health Secretariat (Semusa) to implement a multi-pronged strategy to prevent dengue outbreaks.
Directors Dr. Mariana Silva, Director of Disease Control at Semusa, explains, "The rise in the Aedes aegypti mosquito
index underscores the urgency to act decisively," she emphasizes. “We’re implementing a strategy addressing both mosquito control and community engagement," she states. "Daily checks – agents are now mandated to conduct a minimum of 25 visits per day, ensuring consistent monitoring and elimination breeding grounds. We’re also expanding weekend cleaning operations to larger areas, targeting high-risk neighborhoods,” she adds.
