Stepping away from wrestling for a decade gave CM Punk one of the biggest comebacks of all time. Last year, he finally main-evented WrestleManiaand this year, he’s set to do it again. But does he regret missing any of those prime years during which, among other things, he briefly tried MMA?

On the No Contest podcast, Punk addressed the situation. While hosts O’She Jackson Jr and TJ Jefferson clearly expected him to address the possible physical toll, Punk was more blunt.

“I mean, I’ll just go ahead and say it, like…Vince [McMahon] was still here. I don’t think anything was ever going to change, for me at least, you know?”

Still, Punk took a moment to think about what he did miss. “I could have I could have worked with AJ a whole bunch [presumably he means Styles rather than Lee]. I could have done more with Cena. Um, I think I did pretty good.”

Punk then compared his hiatus to a shorter one by Roman Reigns. “Tribal Chief says he graciously scaled back for two years. Well, I graciously stepped back for 10. You know, and it took him that long to become the superstar that he is, so I got no regrets.”
