Unbeaten and situated inside the top 10, Indiana and Oregon square off Saturday afternoon at Autzen Stadium with Big ten title and College Football Playoff implications very much in play. The No. 3 Ducks carry the nation’s longest home winning streak into the matchup with the seventh-ranked Hoosiers, whose explosive offense promises to deliver fireworks in Eugene.
Michigan heads to Los Angeles for a battle with USC a signature win opportunity for Lincoln Riley coming out of an open date. USC’s expecting a raucous environment inside the Coliseum, to which Wolverines coach Sherrone Moore said this week “it’s sold out because Michigan’s coming.”
We’re picking winners and against the spread plays for those two games and several others across a loaded docket on Saturday.
Last week’s results: Brad Crawford (9-1 straight, 4-6 ATS); Chris Hummer (9-1, 7-3 ATS). Not a good week for yours truly while Hummer cashed several tickets with a great card. Alabama’s backdoor cover on fourth down was disheartening for Vanderbilt bettors and taking Michigan to cover against Wisconsin was a whiff over this way. It’s time to bounce back in Week 7.
Season results: Crawford (45-15 straight, 34-26 ATS); Hummer (45-15; 27-33).

Hummer (Pitt +9.5): If freshman QB Mason Heintschel is going to play like he did in his debut (359 yards, 4 TDs) that line is great value for Pittsburgh. Though, few secondaries Pitt will see this season are as bad as Boston College’s. But I do think Pitt has the pieces on defense to at least limit Florida State’s run game. The Panthers have one of the better run defenses in the ACC (6th nationally in rushing success rate) and should be ab
College Football Picks: USC vs. Michigan, Florida vs. Texas A&M, and Ohio State vs. Illinois
Table of Contents
USC vs. Michigan
The Trojans have been solid against the run (38th nationally in rushing yards allowed per carry),but Michigan’s attack (6th nationally in yards per carry) presents a different challenge. USC’s efficient offense, however, offers an intriguing test for Michigan’s secondary, which has been only okay this season. This is a significant moment for Lincoln Riley and USC.
Crawford: USC -2.5 – A classic setup for the Trojans. michigan is making a cross-country trip, while USC comes off an open date with a signature win opportunity. Michigan’s offense isn’t particularly fearsome (11th in the Big Ten in explosive plays). Limiting justice Haynes will be key for USC.
Predictions: USC 27, Michigan 24 (Both Crawford & Hummer)
Florida vs. Texas A&M
Texas A&M is a different team than Texas, boasting a strong O-line, explosive receivers, and an emerging run game. A Florida win will require DJ Lagway and the Florida offense to play their best game of the season. Expect Texas A&M to focus on stopping the run and forcing Lagway to pass.
Crawford: Texas A&M -7.5 – While I’d fade the Aggies on the spread in Gainesville, Billy Napier is 0-9 at Florida against nationally-ranked competition away from home, and Texas A&M is gaining momentum. Florida needs to pressure Marcel Reed like they pressured Arch Manning to have a chance.
hummer: Florida +7.5 – Florida will need Lagway to have a strong performance, but texas A&M is likely to load the box and force him to pass downfield, which is a tough ask right now. However, florida should be able to cover.
Predictions: Texas A&M 27, Florida 20 (hummer); Texas A&M 24, Florida 10 (Crawford)
Ohio State vs. Illinois
This is a tough matchup for Illinois, particularly with their banged-up secondary. Illinois ranks 121st nationally in defensive success rate against the pass and 113th in passing yards allowed. Ohio State’s wide receivers will exploit this weakness. The game hinges on Illinois’ ability to keep up, which seems unlikely.
Crawford: Illinois +15.5 – Luke Altmyer is having a good season, but faces his toughest defensive test against Ohio State. Someone needs to threaten the Buckeyes at some point in Big Ten play.
Hummer: Ohio State -15.5 – Ohio state arguably has the best defense in the country, and it could be a long day for the Illini.
Predictions: Ohio State 38, Illinois 20 (Hummer)
College Football Picks: Alabama at Missouri, Indiana at Oregon
Alabama at Missouri
Crawford (Alabama -3.5): Kalen DeBoer appropriately said his team was wiping the slate clean post-wins over Georgia and Vanderbilt these last two weeks. A third straight conference opponent might be the toughest ask yet considering missouri has the SEC’s leading rusher and is playing with extreme confidence with an extra week to prepare. If Alabama fails to wrap up Ahmad Hardy, it could be a long afternoon for the Crimson Tide, but I think the pressure’s on Missouri to come through in a big spot at home in arguably Eli Drinkwitz’s biggest game of his tenure up to this point. …Alabama 30, Missouri 24.
hummer (Alabama -3.5): Ahmad hardy is a weapon, and Alabama has been iffy against the run all year. But I still have some reservations of what Beau Pribula looks like when a more talented team loads up to stop the run. Alabama gets it done on the road. … Alabama 31, Missouri 27.
No. 7 Indiana at No. 3 Oregon
Hummer (Indiana +8.5): I’m of two minds about this game: On one hand, the Hoosiers have struggled against obviously better talent under Curt Cignetti. That includes double-digit losses to Ohio State and Notre Dame plus close wins over teams like Michigan and Iowa.On the other hand, I think the ducks are a bit overvalued after their road win over a fraudulent Penn State team. Oregon is better. Oregon is also more talented. But I honestly don’t think the gap is extreme. If the Hoosiers take care of the ball — they’ve only coughed the ball up twice this season — they’ll be in this game throughout. Give me the Hoosiers to cover. … Oregon 34, Indiana 31.
Crawford (Indiana +8.5): Curt Cignetti showered Dan Lanning with praise this week, calling him one of the sport
jQuery UI: A Extensive Guide
jQuery UI is a powerful and widely-used library built on top of jQuery. It simplifies the process of adding interactive features and visually appealing user interface elements to your web applications.Rather of writing complex JavaScript and CSS from scratch, jQuery UI provides pre-built widgets and utilities that you can easily customize.
What Does jQuery UI Offer?
Essentially, jQuery UI takes jQuery’s core functionality and expands upon it. It’s packed with features, but here are some of the most popular:
- Widgets: These are reusable UI components like accordions, autocomplete, buttons, datepickers, dialogs, sliders, and tabs. They handle much of the complex logic for you.
- Interactions: Add drag-and-drop functionality, resizable elements, and selectable items with ease.
- Effects: Create visually engaging animations and effects to enhance the user experience.
- theming: Quickly style your UI with pre-defined themes, or create your own custom themes.
Key Widgets Explained
Let’s take a closer look at a few key widgets:
Autocomplete
The Autocomplete widget enhances text input fields by suggesting possible matches as the user types. It’s fantastic for search boxes, form fields, and anywhere you want to help users find what they’re looking for quickly. You can populate the suggestions from a static array or dynamically from a server-side data source.
Datepicker
Need a user-kind date selection tool? The Datepicker widget provides a calendar interface for easy date input. It supports various formatting options and can be customized to fit your request’s needs. It’s a huge improvement over relying on users to manually type dates.
Dialog
Create modal or non-modal dialog boxes with the Dialog widget. These are perfect for displaying crucial messages, confirmation prompts, or complex forms. you can easily add buttons, customize the appearance, and control the dialog’s behavior.
Slider
The Slider widget allows users to select a value by dragging a handle along a scale. It’s ideal for controlling volume, brightness, or any other numerical value within a defined range. It’s visually intuitive and provides a smooth user experience.
Getting Started with jQuery UI
Using jQuery UI is straightforward. Here’s a basic outline:
- Include jQuery: First, you need to include the jQuery library in your HTML.
- Include jQuery UI: Next, include the jQuery UI library (both the CSS file and the JavaScript file). You can download these from the official jQuery UI website or use a CDN.
- Initialize Widgets: use JavaScript to initialize the widgets you want to use on your page.
For example,to create a simple datepicker:
<script>
$(function() {
$("#datepicker").datepicker();
});
</script>
This code snippet selects an element with the ID “datepicker” and applies the datepicker widget to it.
Theming and Customization
jQuery UI offers a range of pre-built themes that you can use to quickly style your widgets. You can also create your own custom themes using the ThemeRoller (https://jqueryui.com/themeroller/), a web-based tool that allows you to visually customize the appearance of jQuery UI elements. Customization is key to making jQuery UI fit seamlessly with your website’s design.
benefits of Using jQuery UI
- Rapid Development: Save time and effort by using pre-built widgets and utilities.
- Cross-Browser Compatibility: jQuery UI handles many cross-browser inconsistencies for you.
- Accessibility: jQuery UI widgets are designed with accessibility in mind.
