According to security camera footage, Hernandez drove his vehicle south on Los Leones Avenue. He collided with another motorist traveling east on Pocuro Street who had a green traffic light.
Paramedics from the SAMU medical service rushed the other driver to Salvador Hospital. Prosecutor Andrea Contreras stated that the victim remains hospitalized outside of life-threatening condition.
Police administered a breathalyzer test at the scene that registered 1.2 grams of alcohol per liter of blood in Hernandez’s system. Lieutenant Cabezas Andrade confirmed the reading to reporters before police transferred the player to Salvador Hospital for blood alcohol extraction.
Authorities held Hernandez inside the police station pending a formal court appearance at the Justice Center scheduled for Sunday afternoon.
