Production Schedule Shifts for Heated Rivalry
The Crave hockey romance series Heated Rivalry is filming two new seasons back-to-back followed by a feature film, according to es.martincid.com reporting on details from Nellie Andreeva’s column The Dish.
The production strategy breaks from standard streaming timelines that typically force audiences to wait years between installments.
The forthcoming feature film will shoot in December with a theatrical release planned for the following December, diverging from the platform’s usual streaming model. The series is already available in streaming on HBO Max in the United States and other major territories.
Cast Changes for the Holiday Feature Film
Characters Ilya and Shane, played by Connor Storrie and Hudson Williams, will sit out the film. The story shifts focus to secondary characters Scott and Kip, portrayed by François Arnaud and Robbie G.K.
The narrative choice mirrors Rachel Reid’s bestselling Game Changers novel universe, specifically drawing from the short story Merry Christmas, Scott and Kip!, es.martincid.com noted. Meanwhile, Storrie is currently negotiating a role alongside Ryan Gosling in Marvel’s Ghost Rider.
Regal theaters are currently screening the first season in double-feature format during a limited run across Regal, AMC, and Cinemark locations, es.martincid.com reported. The weekend screenings pulled in an estimated 1.3 million dollars after generating 420,000 dollars across 880 screens on Friday.
Season Two Arrives in Spring 2027 with New Cast Members
The second season is confirmed for spring 2027, probably premiering in April, on Crave, es.martincid.com reported. It will continue the central plotline through the sixth book, The Long Game.
Creator Jacob Tierney told Andy Cohen on SiriusXM that season two consists of six episodes, aligning with prior reports about the accelerated shooting schedule. In a leaked Cameo video in August, recurring guest actor Dylan Walsh said Creo que esta vez haremos 12 [episodios]
, leading some fans to believe the second season would be much longer.
New additions to the cast include Justice Smith as Harris Drover and Charlie Gillespie as Troy Barrett, alongside Emily Hampshire, Brendan Morgan, David Tomlinson, and Lauren Chan.
Season Two and a Holiday Special Arrive in Coming Years
Production on the series continues nearly a year after its initial November 28 premiere.
