When the perfect snow conditions are in place, it’s an ideal time to hit the hills.
To help maximize your winter fun, we’ve curated a list of the columbus area’s top sledding spots. Whether you’re seeking a thrill ride down a steep slope or looking for a gentle hill for youngsters, you can bundle up, embrace the chill and find a new place to explore.
Many of these sites have designated sledding hills while others, including a number of Columbus city parks, simply have suitable hills for a safe and fun slide. Remember to put safety first. Don’t sled or snowboard near trees, fixed objects or ponds, and make sure your child wears a helmet.

COLUMBUS/CENTRAL
120 W. Goodale St
Nestled in the Victorian Village community, Columbus’ oldest park has a short but steep hill located on the Buttles Avenue side. Limited parking is available off Park Street and Dennison Avenue.
400 W. Whittier St.
Just south of Downtown on the Scioto River, visitors to this 120-acre park will find a sledding hill located between the obstacle course and the bocce courts.
COLUMBUS/CLINTONVILLE
3299 Riverside Drive
Great for younger kids, this long but milder sledding hill is located near West Weber Road in the southern half of the park. There is limited on-site parking.
5201 Delawanda Avenue
An urban retreat, Kenney Park sits behind the Graceland Shopping Center and is connected to the 21.7-acre Kenney Nature Preserve. The park has small, gentle hills ideal for young sledders. There is a parking area behind Graceland Flats Apartments.
3923 N. High St.
The 13-acre Park of Roses, located within Whetstone Park, offers hills and other rolling spots perfect for winter thrills. The surrounding park area provides wide-open spaces that are ideal for fun in the snow. Ample parking is available.

220 Olde Ridenour Road
you’ll find this popular sledding hill on the north side of the course. Parking is available at the clubhouse.
GALLOWAY
1775 Darby Creek Drive
Park at the Alkire Road entrance and find three sledding hills near the canoe launch and the Ohio to Erie Trailhead. With hills of different heights, there’s something fun for every age.
GRANDVIEW HEIGHTS
1520 goodale Blvd.
Find an ideal sledding spot with moderate inclines for all ages at this small city park. Parking is available,and restrooms are open at the shelter house.
GRANVILLE
4351 Lancaster Road
The bank next to Mirror Lake has a moderate hill suitable for beginners but is fun for adults, too. Explore the nature playscapes or ride on the zip line, which is open during the winter, at this 316-acre park. Restrooms are available in the shelter houses, and there is plenty of parking.
GROVE CITY
3899 Orders Road
A family fun destination for Grove City residents, this 110-acre park has a designated sledding hill near the Century Village ancient area. The park has a shelter area, restrooms and ample parking.
5172 Jackson pike
This 620-acre scenic park located on the Scioto River has a hill for young sledders located near backpacking site No. 2. The nearby Arrowhead picnic area has parking and restrooms.
GROVEPORT
6723 lithopolis Road
An easy-to-navigate hill perfect for young riders is located in the Buckeye Area of this 1,400-acre park. Visitors also will find parking, restrooms and a shelter.
HEATH
580 Cynthia St.
With wide open spaces to make snow angels and a designated hill for sledding, this park is a good option for winter fun.
HILLIARD
3800 Veterans memorial Drive
On a snowy day, you’ll find the locals in the city’s largest park, which has a designated sledding hill between the baseball fields and the aquatic center.
