Commodore Amiga 1200 Gets a Modern revival

The classic 1982 Commodore 64 8-bit home computer featured a SID chip whose sound was highly sought-after, inspiring numerous plugins attempting to recreate it.

In August, YouTuber christian Simpson (AKA Retro Recipes) acquired the Commodore license to not just emulate the C64 from 1982, but to fully revive the computer, complete with its iconic MOS Technology 6581 Sound Interface Device.

The Commodore hype continues, as UK-based vintage tech company Retro Games has revived another classic machine: the amiga 1200, updating it with modern features.

While this launch appears geared more towards gamers, those who enjoyed the Commodore 64 revival will likely be interested.

The original A1200 launched in 1992. This full-sized replica offers HDMI and Bluetooth connectivity for modern use. It’s available for pre-order starting November 10th, with an official launch scheduled for June 2026.
